Wendy Belle McLaughlin

Wendy Belle, baby with anencephaly

Our precious Wendy was diagnosed with anencephaly in the beginning of May 2017. Later, we found out there were other abnormalities. She had clubbed feet, her heart was on the wrong side, her kidneys were underdeveloped, and there were only 2 arteries in her umbilical cord not 3.

It was a devastating time in our small family. She was our first child, our first baby girl.

We had no idea how this happened or why. And we will never know why.

But we loved our daughter so much and felt that the best thing to do was to continue to give her all the love and support she deserved.

She lived on this earth for 41 weeks and 4 days. And for the short time she was with us, we filled it with unforgettable memories. We watched our favorite TV shows with her, took her to the beach, an Angel's baseball game, dates with Daddy, and we had a special Making Memories party for her.

The time we had with her will never leave our hearts or memories.

Wendy was stillborn on November 12, 2017, and she was the most beautiful baby in the world. She weighed 3 pounds and 10 ounces, and she was 14 inches long.

We decided that the best thing for her was to receive all the comfort care she needed. She did not leave Mommy or Daddy's arms.

For us Wendy was not defined by all her diagnosis, she was defined as a daughter of the Most High King. She is a child of God.

We love our daughter so much and she will be a part of our lives for as long as we live.

And to think that when she opened her eyes she saw the very face of God.
